Happy New Year! Well, it’s already February, but it’s only the third week of the semester! We’re up and running here in the lab. We spent some time organizing the physical space as well as our files to get Spring 2015 off to a clean start.
Today, we met our newest team member, Mechelle Negrete. She’s a junior studying linguistics here at SDSU; she’s interested in phonology/phonetics and language revitalization and documentation. She’s a great fit for the lab, and we’re excited to have her!
We spent most of the day introducing Mechelle to our procedures and file organization in the lab, as well as talking about some of our recent findings. We watched a couple of videos of speakers we’ve recorded and discussed the particularly interesting tokens of GOOSE and GOAT that we heard.
We’re looking forward to another great semester of research!
